Million dollar question. Bacteria in water filters, good or bad?

Does contamination of water include bacteria? Or is bacteria in the water a good thing?  Sometimes it’s not good to have bacteria in the water as it can negative effects on the human body.  However new research shows that there’s bacteria in the water that can be good for you.  This good bacteria is know as a “live and active” culture’s. Just like the bacteria cultures that exist in yogurt.

Wells running dry in the midwest

#water #wellwater #midwest

We’ve received calls in the office here at Angel Water, that people are experiencing silt or sand in their well water. We’ve found it’s because their well is drying up. This has lead many to believe that there’s something wrong with their water softening systems and home water purification systems.

Why are wells drying up?

This summer was the hottest summer on record and also the driest. (source: http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/summer-2012-in-running-for-hot/68155) This combination of events concerns all of us that live in the area. To work around this issue, well owners have had to get water delivered or are getting their wells drilled deeper.  Both expensive propositions.

Kick the bottle habit

#kickthebottle

Guess whats soon to be illegal in San Francisco? Bottled water! The city is moving to ban bottled water and believes that bottle refill stations are the way to go.

Applause!

Personally, I just used a bottle refill station for the first time at my gym. It worked great. And before I leave the house I refill my stainless steel water bottle with my home reverse osmosis filtration system.

All this helped me to kick the bottled water habit.

Toxic groundwater known by state for 18 years. Residents just found out.

#water #pollution

Missouri failed to notify its residents for 18 years that TCE (Trichloroethylene) was spilled by a metal manufacturing plant and had continued to seep its way down into the local aquifer and caused contamination of water in the area next to the metal plant.

Reverse osmosis filtration is the only way to remove (99.8%) TCE from the water.  Standard well water purification won’t suffice to remove.

South Bend drilling wells to test water.

This is a novel idea. Drill wells to research the impact of pollution on the environment to build new water systems for the city.  South Bend is looking for contamination of water in the ground.  From there, South Bend will build a system to manage VOC’s, pharmaceuticals and other toxins in the water supply.  If you’re concerned about these contaminates in the water already reverse osmosis filtration will reduce the contamination by 99.8%

Going for the GOLD

#gold #greywater

The London Olympics gets a gold medal for being the most water efficient Olympics to date.

The 2012 London Olympics is especially efficient at the Aquatic center. Where they use the water from the pool to flush the toilets.  Great idea!

You can read more about this here: http://earth911.com/news/2012/07/26/london-olympics-wastewater-recycling/

Recycled water….not that bad to drink.

Remember the opening scene from the movie Waterworld when Kevin Costner puts pee into a machine at the top and at the bottom comes out filtered clean water?

Part 1

Mmm Yummy! Wasn’t that fun to watch? :)

Ultimately all water on this planet is recycled and no new water is made. This is why it’s very important to filter our drinking water.

There’s an article that addresses this icky issue of recycled water. In the state of Texas there’s a serious water shortage going on. And the best idea to solve this issue it to recycle sewage water into drinking water.
